Thailand Takes Decisive Action Following Mosque Attacks in Southern Provinces

The Kingdom of Thailand is responding decisively after explosions at central mosques in Pattani and Narathiwat provinces sparked widespread fear among worshippers during the holy month.

The President of the National Security Council convened an emergency meeting and authorized a series of military and security measures aimed at containing the incidents and preventing further attacks. Intelligence units, supported by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), located an insurgent stronghold and weapons cache deep within the Hala-Bala Wildlife Sanctuary. Guided missiles were deployed to destroy the targets, aiming to eliminate insurgent leaders and their operational capacity.

Special forces, alongside the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC), the 4th Army Area, and the Royal Thai Marine Corps including the Naval Special Warfare Command (SEALs), have secured all key entry and exit points to prevent insurgents from escaping. Additionally, special control zones have been established around religious and community sites to ensure safety while maintaining respect for human rights.

The government has pledged support for the injured and the families of victims. Military engineering units have been assigned to restore the affected mosques, reaffirming their role as centers of spiritual solace.

In a statement, the President of the National Security Council declared: “Actions aimed at destroying religious sites and the lives of innocent people are a serious challenge to the authority of the state. We will not retreat even a single step. Decisive action has been taken to eradicate those behind this unrest and restore lasting peace to Thailand.”
